M1942 POUCH, FIRST AID PACKET
Each soldier carried a Carlisle bandage in this flapped web pouch. It is usually 5-1/2" by
3-3/4" and closes with a single lift-a-dot fastener. The color varies from khaki to dark olive drab (OD #7). The pouch has the usual wire hanger sewn to the back to attach it to the cartridge or pistol belt. The pouches are marked with the makers name and the year of manufacture on the back or on the inside of the flap.
If you choose to carry an original bandage, they come in many forms. The metal cased bandages are always of W.W.II or earlier vintage in addition to being more durable than the waxed cardboard or paper wrapped types.
